How WhosCalled works

A straightforward explanation of searches, ratings and number information.

Searches and report dates

Search totals describe lookups recorded by WhosCalled; they are not a count of unique people or calls made. First searched is the earliest search recorded for that page. Report dates belong to approved community comments, not searches.

Community ratings

Contributors can describe a call as Dangerous, Harassing, Unknown, Neutral or Safe. The displayed community rating summarises submitted experiences. An unrated number has no community rating and must not be assumed safe.

Reports and summaries

Comments should describe a contributor's own call experience. Where a page summarises recurring topics, it must show the supporting report count and must not present an unverified caller identity as fact.

Number information

Prefix and original-allocation facts describe number ranges. Porting can move a number to another provider, and spoofing can make a caller display a number they do not control.
